Welcome back
Hello,
I'm back for 2023. Let's see if I can stick with this a little longer than I did in 2021. Yikes! 2 whole years ago.
Here are my reading goals for 2023:
1. Read quality over quantity. My average rating for 2022 was 3.47. I had about the same number of 4 and 5 stars as I did 2 and 3 stars. I would like my average rating be closer to 4. I think this means that I'm gonna need to DNF more. If I think it's gonna a 2 or 1 star book, I just need to DNF it.
2. Work on series. I have a list of series that I'm working on and ones I would like to start. I want finish as many series as I start. And make a bunch of progress in other series. I started the Argeneau series in 2022 and read 6 books. But there's 35 books in the series and I don't think the series is complete. I plan to read one Argeneau book a month to make progress in this. I also need to DNF series that are just mediocre.
3. Branch out from romance. Contemporary romance is my fave genre. Especially if it's smutty. But I want to be more diverse. I read 85 non-romance books in 2022 which was approximately 26% of my total books read. I want to make that 30% this year. I have a non fiction and a fantasy on my January TBR. The only downside of this goal is that it directly conflicts with goal 1. I don't tend to rate non-romance books as high as I rate romance books because I don't get as much enjoyment out non-romance as I do romance. And enjoyment is the number one thing I rate books on.
4. Reading journal. This isn't really a reading goal but a reading adjacent goal. I'm switching up my reading journal this. I have used the Happy Planner system for my reading journal for the last 3 years. But this year I have switched to a book bound lined journal. It'll be nice to change up my record keeping system and how I do lists and TBRs. I am planning to use stickers this year to use up my stash. Especially use the numbers and dates stickers. I put stickers on the cover to decorate the cover since it was blank. It's really cute.
That's all my goals for 2023. I hope to come back and check in with these goals a couple times a year.
Until next post. God bless and happy reading.
