Fourth Wing review

Image
I'm not a fantasy girlie. When I do read fantasy it's via audiobook. But I just read this fantasy romance physically in less than 48 hours. I loved almost all of it and understand what all the hype is about. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Violet has trained her whole life to enter the Scribe Quantrant like her father. But her mother, the commanding general, orders her to join the Riders Quandrant instead. Violet isn't cut out to be a dragon rider or so everyone thinks, including herself. She has to prove herself every step of the way and protect herself because of who her mother is. Including from the sexy, ruthless wingleader, Xaden.  Follow Violet as she learns who she can trust, who she can't trust, how strong she really is, and how powerful her dragon bond makes her.

Manga mania

As the majority of my reading is adult contemporary romance and KU smut, I try to expand my reading into other genres, age groups, and formats. One of those expansion areas is into graphic novels and Manga.  A couple years ago, I tried some manga and finally decided that it wasn't for me. I kept getting confused with the art style and reading right to left. It really upset me because I wanted to like manga.  Several of the booktubers I follow have been getting into manga over the last 6 months or so. Or I'm just now realizing how much manga some of them do read. One particular booktuber, Gavin, has fallen in love with manga especially the One Piece series. He had a patreon only 48 hour readathon last month called Geekend. Where the goal was to do the things that make you a geek. So he read manga for the whole weekend.  After watching the vlog I was encouraged to try out some more manga. So I went to the library to find some manga to read. I picked up the first volume in several

Reading slumps

Let's just ignore the fact that I've neen gone for about a month now.  I wanna talk about reading slumps today. I was in a bit of a slump in January. Not unusual for me. Considering my mood and my mental state play a big factor in how much I read and my enjoyment of the book. The end of September 2022, I started the worst reading slump of my life. I finished one book the last week of the month. It wasn't a long book. And I should've finished it so much quicker that I did.  The slump continued through the whole month of October where I finished 15 books. I know 15 books in a month is really great for a lot of people. But my average reading in 2022 was 29 books completed in a month. My lowest reading month was February with 24 books. And highest reading month was June with 36. After October my monthly average dropped significantly.  I tried everything I could think of to get me out of my reading slump sooner. Graphic novels. Novellas. Rereads. Out of my 15 books finished

Twist Me

Image
The next KU book I finished this month is Twist Me by Mia Monroe. This the 6th and final book in the Tattoos and Temptations series.  I read the other books in this series in 2021 and forgot about this series before this book came out until the end of 2022.  Twist Me is a male male age gap romance between Grey, a trans male tattoo artist, and Mitsu, a pansexual Shibari master.  Grey has a lot of touch issues, control issues, and trust issues at the start and even though he's attracted to Mitsu, he's worried about being tied up and that Mitsu won't want him if won't play in Mitsu's ropes. But neither of them can deny their attraction to the other and after a lot of talking, they work through all they're barriers. It was a cute book but it wasn't great. I think if I had read this back in 2021 when I read the others and right after this was came out, I would've liked this better. But I'm glad that I remembered this series and finished it off. Working on

Mail Order Brides of Darling Creek

Image
My first KU read of 2023 is actually a trilogy. The Mail Order Brides of Darling Creek. But I put the trilogy as one book into my reading journal. These books are 100 - 120 pages long each. The first book, A Baby for the Bride, was my favorite of the 3. I would give it 4 stars on its own. Unfortunately, the series goes downhill after that. I ended up giving the whole series 3 stars. The title, A Baby for the Bride, made me think she was going to get pregnant immediately. But that is not the case.  Zeke has gained guardianship of his cousin's infant after his cousin's death. He is the owner of a ranch and is having difficulty working the ranch all day and taking care of a fussy, non-sleeping baby all night. He applies for what he thinks is a nanny but actually orders a bride. Serena just found out her boyfriend cheated on her. She doesn't have enough money to get her own place so she's still living with her ex and now the girl he cheated with. She needs to get out of Ch

Welcome back

Image
Hello, I'm back for 2023. Let's see if I can stick with this a little longer than I did in 2021. Yikes! 2 whole years ago. Here are my reading goals for 2023: 1. Read quality over quantity. My average rating for 2022 was 3.47. I had about the same number of 4 and 5 stars as I did 2 and 3 stars. I would like my average rating be closer to 4. I think this means that I'm gonna need to DNF more. If I think it's gonna a 2 or 1 star book, I just need to DNF it. 2. Work on series. I have a list of series that I'm working on and ones I would like to start. I want finish as many series as I start. And make a bunch of progress in other series. I started the Argeneau series in 2022 and read 6 books. But there's 35 books in the series and I don't think the series is complete. I plan to read one Argeneau book a month to make progress in this. I also need to DNF series that are just mediocre.  3. Branch out from romance. Contemporary romance is my fave genre. Especially

Introduction

Hello. My name is Angela and welcome to AngiefayeReads. A blog about books I love and the unfortunate ones I hate. I have been told for months now that I should start a book YouTube channel. But I'm just not ready nor confident enough to create a YouTube channel. So I decided I would try out a blog On this blog, I will write about my reading journey. And the best and worst books I read that are from KindleUnlimited (KU). The 5 star reads and 1/2 star reads. I will also write about the majority of traditional published books but definitely the good ones and the bad ones. Just might leave out all the 3 stars for reviews and only include them in my month end wrap up.  I use Goodreads and a book planner/bujo to track my reading. I also do a TBR game each month where I use a random number generator to pick prompts from a list. I will get into my prompts and my January prompts and TBR in the next post. I read mainly contemporary romance. But I've been trying to broaden my horizons an
